Moofies - Blood Into Wine (2010)
EXPECTATIONS: Maynard Keenan, the man behind the bands Tool and a perfect circle makes wine, and someone decided that would make for an interesting documentary. Tim and Eric are in the trailer doing some awkward interview thing, which is the only reason I decided to watch this because Tim and Eric are hilarious.
REALITY: This is one of the most eclectic documentaries I've seen in a while. If you think Tim and Eric are funny, if you are a wine enthusiast, or if you are a die-hard Keenan fan, then you will find something to enjoy here.
Keenan's vineyard, instead of being in a lush green place, is in a desert. This effects the taste of the wine and gives it its own unique flavour. This is kind of interesting, but not really interesting enough to carry an entire film. We hear wine experts and spiritual hippies blab on about wine and the earth and it all gets a bit much. Keenan fans will be happy to see a lot of Keenan joking around and wanking on about what he does, but it's just too messy and too much. I'm pretty certain nothing ended up on the cutting room floor, which is a shame because there is probably a decent film in here. Well, maybe a decent 30 minute short.
Tim and Eric are hilarious, but by about the half way mark I was fast forwarding to see the rest of their scenes. Someone will love this film, but I didn't.
